Staying Focused

My mind wanders. A lot.

I think about the future. What do I have to do tonight after work? What project do I want to focus on for the next couple of months? Where do I want to be with my life in five years?

This is fine. It’s ok to dream, and to plan for bigger and better things. But my mind still wanders, and I lose focus on the task at hand, which is to focus on now.

Instead, I obsess over the big picture. “I’m not working on this enough, or doing that enough. And don’t even think about doing these things! I’ll never have enough time for that”.

I have to tell myself to shut up when this occurs.

Just do what needs to be done now. The rest will be there to do later.
